Previously, she was Sarah Walker from the show Chuck. Sarah was a CIA agent whose partner—and boyfriend—seemed to go rogue. He destroyed the Intersect, a repository of all NSA and CIA intel, and emailed a copy to his former college roommate Chuck. Chuck became the Intersect, and Sarah, along with NSA Agent John Casey, became Chuck's protective detail/the team that followed up leads on Chuck's 'flashes'. Over the course of working with Chuck, she fell in love with him, and though there were a lot of obstacles in their way—a LOT—they did eventually end up together.
Now she's Elena Soto, 31. Elena grew up in a painfully normal family in LA: two parents, a couple of siblings, nothing really exceptional about them. So she tended to make up stories about their secret lives--that they were spies, or aliens, or hidden royalty. As she got older she started writing those stories down. In college, she hedged her bets by adding an international studies major to her creative writing one, never quite confident to go all in on either. Her favorite professor helped her get an FBI internship between her junior and senior years and that helped her get a full-time job with them after graduation. She's just an analyst, not anything really exciting like a field agent, but at least her characters can be; Elena's published a few moderately successful spy thrillers under the pseudonym E.Z. Soto. About a year ago she applied for a transfer--any transfer, anything that would get her out of LA after things with her long-time girlfriend ended--and was assigned to the New Orleans field office. But even 1800 miles away, she can't get her ex's voice out of her head. Her ex was wrong about a lot of things, but she might have been right about a few, too. That doesn't mean Elena has to tell anyone about training in her downtime so she can maybe, finally apply to be an agent.
